Though the record indicates this bridge was built in 1936, the lattice railing are more typical of 1926, and we are thus left with the possibilities that the date was miscoded or the bridge was moved. This little 60-foot long bridge is on a stretch of old OK 18 between US 60 and Shilder. The bridge crosses a small tributary of Salt Creek called Rock Creek. This bridge is just down stream of Phillips Lake dam.
South bound traffic have to make a hard right turn before crossing this bridge, and apparently a few too many drivers could not negotiate this turn without hitting something, as this smashed end post shows.
