These four photos document a recently closed bedstead pony truss crossing Checkerboard Creek on EW 0870 Road in northwestern Okmulgee County. The bridge was built in 1929 and illustrates how simple a truss structure can be. An unusual feature of this bridge was the construction of the endposts. These were made up of four channels stitch riveted together to form a box section, as opposed to just two channels laced together.
