Chikaskia River Bridge, Kay County

Blackwell Bridge

This unusual bridge is located just to the east of Blackwell, Okla.'s downtown. The middle span is 150 feet long. The middle through span is skewed, while the flanking through spans are skewed on one end only. The offset is slightly more than one panel, causing the endposts to be at different angles, making a very awkward appearance. The two approach pony spans are 80 feet long.

The photo below shows the bridge's year of construction, 1924, and its builders, the Vincennes Bridge Co., Vincennes, Indiana.

The next photo shows the skewed portals.
