Little River Bridge, Hughes County

Though built in 1949, the truss span of this bridge has many features typical of those built in the mid 1930's, so the possibility always exists that the date as recorded wrong, or that the span was moved here in 1949. Moving of truss bridges in Oklahoma is very common, even for large bridges. At any rate, the truss span is 160 feet in length, has a 22 foot wide deck and features riveted connections. It is a Parker-K-truss design. The bridge also has two steel stringer approaches and the bridge's total length is 314 feet. Above, an overview looking through the structure. Below, close view of the truss span.
