Double Creek Crossing, Washington County

Built in 1914 by the Rochester Bridge Company, of Rochester, Indiana; this bridge stands just about 1/2 mile west of Ramona on an east-west road. The bridge is a 100-foot pin-connected through Pratt. Below is a view through the bridge.

Above, a side view of the span. This bridge still has its laced safety guards.

Below, detail of the hip connection and portal frame. The hip vertical is built up of two angles arranged in a "z". The portal frame is made up of heavy angles, and has never been struck.

Below, bridge hunters Ken and David chat on the bridge deck. The deck of the bridge is wood with an asphalt wearing surface. The Rochester Bridge Company built many of the old steel truss bridges in Washington and eastern Osage Counties.
